Which is best LCD or Plasma? Learn what is the difference between LCD and Plasma. LCDs use liquid crystals but plasmas activate tiny tubes of neon gas. There is a visible difference in picture quality of plasma, including deeper blacks compared to LCD HDTV. LCD's weaknesses: motion distortion or blur caused by slow moving liquid crystals, its viewing angle is limited, greyish reproduction of blacks. LCD's are available in the highest 1080p resolution at smaller sizes, they are thinner and easier to mount. Plasma's have superior black-level reproduction, this makes dark colors more realistic. Plasma also look good from any angle. Plasma's weakness: the screen-door effect that means - noticable space between pixels, plasmas made prior 2006 emit an audible buzz at high altitudes, suffer from burn-in image when a graphic remains on the screen even after changing channels. But not often in recent models. LCD - the best TV is from 32 to 40" for their quality, size and price. Plasma - the best value is starting 50". The choice is up to You now!
